Bio

Matt joined the team at Schirmer Law in September 2021 as a Law Clerk and was accepted into the Florida Bar as of April 2022 being promoted to a civil litigation associate attorney handling primarily property insurance matters. He began his career specializing in criminal defense, practicing as a Trial Attorney for the Office of the Public Defender for the State of New Jersey starting in 2019. His extensive trial experience and overall day to day courtroom experience make him a great addition to the team for civil litigation and specifically trial cases. He also brings an engaging and enthusiastic client centric approach, focused on ensuring each client feels their voice is heard throughout the case in the pursuit to make them whole again.

Born in Oakland, California, Matt grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and graduated college from Clemson University with a BS in Economics and a Minor in Legal Studies, while a member of the football team on full scholarship. After graduating in three years, he became a stockbroker at Fidelity Investments at his hometown in Jacksonville, Florida for 3 years, before attending and graduating from Seton Hall Law School located in Newark, New Jersey in 2018. Matt dedicated his entire law schoolwork experience to public service, always focusing his internships and work on helping those unable to afford representation in various types of legal fields.

Even though he loved his work as a public defender, Matt decided to return to his home state of Florida to be closer to his family and diversify his legal practice into the civil litigation arena, being able to continue his commitment of fighting for the “little guy” while at Schirmer Law.

In his free time, Matt enjoys cooking, traveling, going to live music shows, playing golf, and pretty much anything associated with sports.
