Matthew Witlicki Joined Schirmer Law in December of 2021 as a civil litigation associate with focuses on first-party and third-party property insurance matters. Prior to that, he worked as in-house counsel for one of the largest property insurance companies in Florida. Though successful in his role as an insurance defense attorney, Matt ultimately decided to “switch sides” in order to advocate for homeowners. Matt’s insight and experience, combined with his methodical approach to the practice of law, make him uniquely qualified to help his clients understand their rights and guide them through the insurance litigation process.
Matt graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2011. He then attended Barry University School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2015. After law school, he moved to Boston to pursue an LLM in Healthcare Law, which he received in 2017. Matt’s first attorney position exposed him to the complex world of class-action lawsuits related to pharmaceuticals and information technology. In October of 2018, Matt and his girlfriend moved back to Florida to be closer to family. Matt immediately landed a job working for hospital clients to overturn denied health insurance claims. In November of 2020, he switched his focus to property insurance law, and he loves the challenges it presents.
In his free time, Matt enjoys reading, traveling, and finding forgotten treasures at antique stores.
